El hecho ocurrió alrededor de las 13 en la intersección de las calles 14 de Julio y 25 de Mayo entre una camioneta y un auto, ambos de la marca Toyota.
Según testigos, la camioneta circulaba por la calle 14 de Julio cuando fue embestida por el auto que venía por 25 de Mayo a elevada velocidad. Algunos afirmaron que el conductor venía utilizando su teléfono celular.
Debido a la fuerza del impacto, el auto, que era conducido por un hombre mayor, terminó entre los árboles de la Plaza Rocha, sobre la tierra y solo sufrió daños materiales, al igual que la camioneta chocada.
En ese momento, en la plaza había dos adolescentes que resultaron heridas como consecuencia del siniestro.
El conductor brindó explicaciones a los oficiales de la Dirección de Tránsito que se acercaron hasta el medio de la plaza y, según testigos, les confesó que “hace poco tuvo un episodio parecido” en el que el vehículo impactado fue el suyo.
El hombre, según pudo confirmarse luego, circulaba sin seguro y con la licencia de conducir vencida.
Personal de emergencias se dirigió a la plaza para asistir a las menores, que solo sufrieron lesiones leves y se encuentran fuera de peligro.
