El edificio del viejo cine San Martín ubicado en Independencia entre Rawson y Garay se incendió pasadas las 23 del martes 13 y personal de bomberos debió trabajar para controlar la situación y evitar que las llamas lleguen a viviendas cercanas.
En el lugar trabajó el Cuartel Central de Bomberos con tres dotaciones. Además, llegaron al lugar Defensa Civil, ambulancias y personal de la empresa distribuidora de gas, debido a algunas explosiones que causaron temor en los vecinos.
De acuerdo a fuentes oficiales, el incendio tuvo su epicentro en la planta alta y a pesar de su intensidad, poco después de las 0.40 fue declarado bajo control, aunque las llamas no estaban del todo extinguidas. “Pudimos evacuar los domicilios lindantes y no hubo ningún daño estructural más allá del del edificio afectado directamente”, explicó Alberto Gabba, jefe de Bomberos de Mar del Plata.
